Fortschritt was an East German brand of tractors, combine harvesters and other agricultural machines made by VEB Fortschritt (part of the IFA) in Neustadt, Saxony. New Holland are good tractors I think they're as good as John Deere better value for money in them and with the in house fpt engines they are better engines than Deere's, pull harder very good on pto work and often cheaper to run.

John Deere's are more expensive than Case IH generally. That is not to say that you can't find a cheaper John Deere or Case IH. You just have to shop around. Sometimes the best used farm equipment is online, and you don't need to go to a dealer at all.
